Description
Located in the tranquil landscape of Ayvacık, Çanakkale, this bespoke residence was designed as a peaceful retreat for a couple seeking to embrace nature throughout the year. Conceived and coordinated entirely by the Fi Design team, the project reflects a contemporary interpretation of regional architecture while delivering the comfort and functionality expected from a modern summer house design.
The residence is constructed with a reinforced concrete structural system, carefully clad in locally sourced natural stone to establish a strong connection with the surrounding landscape. This approach combines the durability of modern construction with the timeless character of traditional craftsmanship, resulting in a contemporary stone house that respects the architectural heritage of the region.
Designed as a two-storey residence, the project follows a duplex villa concept, creating a seamless relationship between indoor and outdoor living. Expansive glazed openings, generous terraces, and a shaded wooden pergola strengthen the connection with the landscaped garden and private swimming pool, allowing natural light and ventilation to become integral elements of the living experience.
The spatial organization was carefully planned around the lifestyle of its owners, offering a balanced distribution of private and shared spaces. Inspired by the functionality of a 3+ summer house plan, the ground floor accommodates the open-plan living, dining, and kitchen areas, while the upper floor provides private bedrooms and quiet relaxation spaces. This layout ensures both flexibility and comfort for everyday living as well as seasonal use.
Architecturally, the project draws inspiration from traditional Aegean architecture, blending regional identity with contemporary design principles. Natural stone façades, timber pergolas, and locally inspired material selections contribute to a refined interpretation of vernacular architecture while responding to the climatic conditions of the Çanakkale region. Every architectural detail was considered to create a timeless residence that feels deeply rooted in its location.
The interior concept embraces a warm, vintage, and cosy atmosphere. The summer house interior design focuses on natural textures, handcrafted details, and a neutral colour palette that enhances the sense of comfort and relaxation. Carefully selected wooden furniture, soft fabrics, vintage-inspired lighting, and artisanal decorative elements create inviting living spaces that encourage slow and comfortable living.
Material selection was one of the defining aspects of the project. Furniture and interior details were inspired by the craftsmanship and natural resources unique to the Çanakkale region. Local wood species, natural stone surfaces, ceramic accessories, and handcrafted elements were incorporated throughout the interiors, creating a harmonious relationship between architecture, interior design, and the surrounding landscape.
Outdoor living plays a significant role in the overall design. Positioned directly in front of the main living area, the private swimming pool extends the daily living experience into the garden, transforming the residence into a comfortable villa with a swimming pool. The outdoor seating areas beneath the timber pergola provide shaded spaces for relaxation, dining, and social gatherings while maintaining uninterrupted visual connections with the landscaped surroundings.
This project represents a refined example of a Çanakkale stone house, successfully combining regional construction traditions with modern residential standards. Rather than replicating historical architecture, the design respectfully reinterprets local building culture through contemporary planning, material choices, and architectural detailing.
Among today's diverse stone house models, this residence stands out through its contextual design approach and carefully considered architectural language. It demonstrates how local materials and traditional construction principles can be successfully integrated into a modern lifestyle without compromising aesthetics or functionality.
The entire project, from architectural concept development and interior design to material specification and construction coordination, was managed by the Fi Design team. Every stage of the process was approached holistically to ensure consistency between architecture, interiors, and landscape design.
As a comprehensive turnkey stone house project, the residence showcases the quality and craftsmanship that define Fi Design's architectural philosophy. Its balanced composition, functional layout, and timeless material palette position it among contemporary two-storey stone house models, offering a sophisticated living environment that celebrates the natural beauty and architectural heritage of Ayvacık while providing a comfortable home designed for modern living.
