Master Bedroom Design & Project

Located within a private villa in Büyükçekmece, Istanbul, this youth room design project was developed to create a functional, timeless, and refined living environment capable of adapting to the changing needs of a young user over time. Covering approximately 65 m², the interior design and implementation process was approached through a comprehensive architectural perspective, bringing together sleeping, studying, relaxation, storage, and personal living functions within a coherent design language. From custom-made furniture and material selections to lighting decisions and decorative details, every component of the space was considered as part of an integrated interior concept. The result goes beyond a conventional children’s room design, creating a contemporary personal environment that can evolve together with its user.

The main design approach combines the warm and natural atmosphere of Mediterranean architecture with the clean lines of contemporary interiors. Modern Mediterranean interior design principles are reflected through warm timber tones, light-coloured surfaces, restrained details, and a balanced material palette. Rather than relying on excessive decorative elements, the design focuses on material quality, proportion, craftsmanship, and spatial relationships. This approach provides a flexible architectural background that can accommodate personal belongings and changing lifestyle requirements over time. As part of our Istanbul interior design portfolio, the project represents a contemporary interpretation of residential spaces designed specifically for younger users.

During the development of the youth room interior design, the space was considered as more than simply a bedroom. In addition to the sleeping area, studying, dressing, storage, and everyday living functions were planned as interconnected components of the overall layout. The position of the study desk, wardrobe capacity, mirror placement, storage solutions, and circulation distances between furniture elements were carefully resolved according to user ergonomics. Through this approach, the bedroom design was transformed into a multifunctional private living space capable of supporting different activities throughout the day.

Furniture selection and bespoke production played an important role in defining the architectural character of the project. Selected loose furniture pieces were sourced from Fuga Mobilya, with their colours, materials, proportions, and forms carefully considered in relation to the overall interior concept. In addition, the wardrobe, mirrors, study desk, storage units, and various built-in furniture elements were custom manufactured specifically for the project. This combination established a balanced relationship between selected furniture pieces and bespoke wooden furniture design solutions. Through this custom youth room design approach, standard solutions were replaced with details developed specifically according to the dimensions of the space and the functional requirements of its user.

Material selections focused on balancing natural, warm surfaces with contemporary architectural details. Oak-effect wood finishes and lacquered surfaces were combined with light-coloured walls to create a bright and welcoming interior atmosphere. Large-format 120 × 240 cm ceramic tiles were used on the floor, reinforcing visual continuity and contributing to a more spacious perception of the room. The combination of wood cladding and ceramic flooring preserves the warmth associated with Mediterranean interiors while establishing a more refined material language suitable for a contemporary villa in Istanbul.

Appliances and equipment supporting everyday comfort were also considered as part of the overall architectural composition. SMEG appliances were selected for the project, integrating the brand’s distinctive design identity into the contemporary character of the room. Functional equipment was carefully incorporated without disrupting the visual continuity of the interior, allowing technical requirements to become a natural part of the overall design rather than visually independent elements.

Youth room lighting was planned according to the different ways in which the space is used throughout the day. The requirements of studying, resting, and general daily activities were considered separately to improve visual and spatial comfort. Lighting was approached not simply as a technical necessity but as an integral architectural element that highlights the texture of the timber surfaces, the geometry of the custom furniture, and the warm character of the interior.

Whether developing a boys’ youth room or a girls’ youth room, the design approach was based on individual lifestyle, spatial requirements, and personal preferences rather than conventional gender-based colour schemes. This principle allows custom youth room designs to remain relevant as users grow and their needs change. The same architectural strategy can also be adapted to a two-person youth room design, where sleeping, studying, personal storage, and shared areas need to be carefully balanced within a single space.

As part of a private villa in Büyükçekmece, the project demonstrates the importance of approaching personal rooms with the same level of architectural consideration given to the primary living areas of a residence. Within the context of Büyükçekmece interior design, the project focuses on creating a space that responds not only to present requirements but also to the changing needs of its user. Particularly in children’s room interior design and youth room projects, flexible spatial planning makes it possible to move beyond short-term decorative solutions and create interiors with greater longevity.

Developed as part of an Istanbul Büyükçekmece villa, the interior combines the warmth of natural timber with Mediterranean influences and contemporary architectural lines. The resulting youth room design has therefore been conceived not merely as a sleeping space, but as a comprehensive private living environment where studying, relaxation, storage, and everyday personal activities coexist within a single architectural framework. Through carefully selected materials, bespoke details, functional planning, and a timeless aesthetic, the project creates a sophisticated yet comfortable interior that can adapt to its user over time while maintaining a strong connection with the overall architectural identity of the villa.
