Description
Located within the Brandvadi residential complex in Büyükçekmece, Istanbul, the kitchen of the No 150 residence was developed as a bespoke interior design project shaped around the client’s preference for a classical, sophisticated, and elegant atmosphere. The Brandvadi No 150 Kitchen Project was conceived not merely as a functional cooking area, but as a distinctive interior that forms an integral part of the overall residence. Spatial planning, material selections, custom-made cabinetry, lighting, and appliance choices were considered together to create a coherent design language within the Brandvadi No 150 Interior Design Project.
The main design concept is based on interpreting classical architectural details according to contemporary residential requirements. Light-coloured lacquered cabinetry was designed with framed door panels, refined profiles, and decorative detailing to establish the classical character of the space. While these elements create a rich and sophisticated atmosphere, the predominantly light colour palette maintains a sense of openness and brightness. In contrast, the dark kitchen island forms a strong focal point at the centre of the room, creating visual depth and balancing the lighter surrounding cabinetry. Through this combination, the project provides a distinctive residential kitchen design example where classical detailing is reinterpreted within a contemporary luxury home.
As part of the Brandvadi Residence Kitchen Design, a large central island was planned as the main functional and visual element of the kitchen. Rather than serving solely as a preparation and serving surface, the island was designed to organize everyday activities within the space. The cooktop was positioned directly on the island, while the suspended hood was aligned above it, creating a strong vertical composition at the centre of the kitchen. This arrangement allows the cooktop and hood to become architectural features while maintaining efficient working surfaces and comfortable circulation around the island.
A seating area was also incorporated into the kitchen island, allowing the space to function as a social environment as well as a cooking area. This approach reflects the changing role of the kitchen within contemporary Brandvadi apartment kitchen design, where cooking, dining, conversation, and everyday activities increasingly take place within the same space. Circulation distances, storage capacity, work surfaces, and seating arrangements were therefore carefully considered together to balance aesthetics with ergonomic requirements.
Custom cabinetry plays a significant role in defining the overall identity of the project. All kitchen furniture was designed with lacquered finishes and developed in detail specifically for the space. Cabinet doors, drawer proportions, glazed display units, profiles, and hardware were considered as parts of a single composition. Bronze glass was introduced within selected display cabinets and enhanced with integrated lighting, adding visual depth and reinforcing the refined classical atmosphere. Brass details were incorporated into handles and complementary furniture elements, creating a warm contrast against the light lacquered surfaces. Through this bespoke kitchen design approach, a unique furniture language was developed specifically for the residence rather than relying on standard kitchen solutions.
The material palette was carefully balanced to strengthen the sophisticated character of the interior. Light lacquered cabinetry, dark surfaces, bronze glass, and brass details create a layered composition throughout the space. Light stone finishes used on the countertops and surrounding surfaces reinforce the bright atmosphere, while warmer flooring tones complement the classical design language. Decorative ceiling details, concealed lighting, and statement pendant fixtures further emphasize the representative quality of the kitchen, transforming it from a purely technical workspace into one of the defining living areas of the residence.
Gaggenau appliances were considered for the kitchen to complement its high-end material and design approach. Built-in ovens and other appliances were integrated into the custom cabinetry to ensure that contemporary kitchen technology remained visually compatible with the classical architectural language. This integration creates a deliberate balance between traditional detailing and modern functionality, allowing advanced appliances to become a seamless part of the overall interior composition.
The Brandvadi residential kitchen project was developed specifically according to the client’s lifestyle, functional expectations, and aesthetic preferences rather than as a standard kitchen renovation. In this sense, the project can be considered both a kitchen renovation project example and a comprehensive luxury apartment kitchen design, with furniture production, material combinations, appliance placement, lighting, and architectural detailing developed within the same design framework.
As part of the Fi Design Office interior design portfolio, the Brandvadi No 150 reference project represents a contemporary interpretation of classical kitchen design for a luxury residence in Büyükçekmece. Bespoke lacquered cabinetry, bronze glass display units, brass accents, a central kitchen island, and Gaggenau appliances come together to establish a refined and timeless interior identity. These qualities make the Brandvadi No 150 design reference a distinctive example of luxury apartment kitchen design and implementation in Istanbul.
Developed with the level of coordination required for a turnkey kitchen design project, the design brings together aesthetics, ergonomics, material quality, and technical requirements within a unified architectural approach. The resulting Brandvadi No 150 Kitchen Project presents a sophisticated interpretation of classical design—rich in detail and character while remaining fully responsive to contemporary lifestyles and modern kitchen technologies.
