Description

Located in Büyükçekmece, Istanbul, Aksu House is a bespoke luxury residence designed for a family with one child, combining timeless elegance with contemporary living standards. Conceived as a two-storey private villa, the project was delivered to Fi Design Office as a shell-and-core structure, with the entire architectural, interior design, engineering coordination, and construction management process undertaken by our team. From the earliest design concepts to the final stages of implementation, every detail was carefully developed to create a residence that reflects refined living while meeting the highest standards of craftsmanship, technology, and functionality. Rather than simply completing an unfinished building, the project reimagines the property as a sophisticated luxury home where architecture, interiors, and engineering work seamlessly together.

The design concept was shaped around the client's desire to combine the richness of classical furniture with the clean spatial language of contemporary architecture. Instead of creating a purely classical interior, the project establishes a balanced dialogue between ornate furnishings and restrained architectural surfaces. Rich textures, premium natural materials, and carefully proportioned spaces create an elegant atmosphere without compromising spatial clarity. The two-storey layout was reorganized to enhance family living, establishing clear relationships between public and private areas while maximizing natural light, visual continuity, and circulation throughout the residence. The result is a timeless luxury duplex villa where traditional elegance and modern architecture coexist harmoniously.

Every interior space within the villa was completely redesigned to suit the family's lifestyle and daily routines. The living room, dining area, kitchen, master suite, children's bedroom, dressing rooms, entrance hall, bathrooms, circulation spaces, and bespoke storage solutions were individually developed as part of a unified interior architecture concept. All built-in furniture was custom designed specifically for the project, allowing storage, proportions, ergonomics, and material transitions to be fully integrated into the architectural composition. Rather than relying on standard furniture solutions, each element was conceived as an extension of the architecture itself, creating a refined and highly functional living environment.

One of the defining architectural features of the residence is the bespoke staircase connecting both floors. Designed as a sculptural focal point rather than simply a circulation element, the staircase establishes a strong visual connection between the levels while contributing significantly to the identity of the house. Every component—including the geometry, natural stone finishes, metal detailing, lighting integration, and handrail design—was custom developed to reinforce the overall architectural language of the project.

Material selection played a fundamental role in establishing the villa's luxurious yet timeless character. The interior palette combines natural stone, large-format porcelain surfaces, lacquered panels, timber veneers, and refined metal details to create a sophisticated material composition. Every finish was selected not only for its aesthetic qualities but also for its durability, longevity, and ease of maintenance. Ceramic surfaces feature a combination of imported Versace Ceramics collections alongside locally manufactured Kütahya Seramik large-format porcelain slabs measuring 120 × 240 cm. These oversized surfaces minimize grout joints, enhance visual continuity, and create a seamless architectural expression throughout the residence.

The kitchen was conceived as one of the most important living spaces within the home. Premium Vanucci kitchen systems were selected to combine elegant aesthetics with exceptional functionality, integrating generous storage solutions, high-performance hardware, and contemporary detailing into a cohesive architectural composition. The bathrooms were equipped with Axor's luxury collections, where precision engineering and refined design elevate the everyday living experience. Furniture selection further reinforces the project's luxurious character, featuring iconic Roberto Cavalli Home collections alongside Visionnaire dining furniture, living room seating, and bedroom pieces. Rather than allowing luxury brands to dominate the design, these carefully curated elements were integrated into a coherent architectural vision that emphasizes spatial harmony over decoration.

Lighting design was approached as an architectural layer rather than a purely technical necessity. Ambient, accent, and decorative lighting scenarios were carefully coordinated to enhance the natural materials, highlight bespoke furniture, and emphasize the spatial composition throughout the villa. Layered lighting creates different atmospheres throughout the day while reinforcing the depth and material richness of each interior space, allowing the residence to adapt naturally to changing activities and moods.

Beyond aesthetics, advanced building technology forms an essential part of the project. A fully integrated smart home automation system enables centralized control of lighting, climate, and electrical scenarios, offering intuitive and efficient management of the entire residence. High-end audio systems, enterprise-grade wireless access points, burglar alarm systems, CCTV infrastructure, and video intercom solutions were seamlessly incorporated into the architectural design. Careful coordination between electrical engineering and interior architecture ensured that all technical equipment remains visually discreet while maintaining maximum functionality.

Mechanical engineering solutions were developed with equal precision. Underfloor heating was installed throughout the villa to provide consistent thermal comfort while preserving the clean architectural appearance of the interiors by eliminating visible radiators. To guarantee stable water pressure across the entire property, clean water storage tanks, booster pumps, and pressure management systems were integrated into the building's infrastructure. These engineering systems ensure reliable performance while supporting the comfort expected within a high-end private residence.

Privacy within the bathrooms was enhanced through the integration of electrically switchable Magic Glass technology. This innovative solution allows glazed partitions to transition instantly from transparent to opaque, maintaining natural daylight while providing complete privacy whenever required. The technology reflects the project's overall philosophy of combining advanced engineering with elegant architectural detailing.

Every architectural junction, marble connection, custom furniture detail, ceiling solution, door assembly, and metal component was fully resolved through detailed technical drawings and three-dimensional modelling prior to construction. Throughout the implementation phase, Fi Design Office coordinated every aspect of the project—from material procurement and construction supervision to quality control and site management—working closely with highly specialized craftsmen and consultants. The result is far more than a luxury residence; it is a carefully orchestrated architectural composition where interior design, engineering, craftsmanship, and technology come together to create a timeless private villa that reflects the highest standards of contemporary residential design.
